TOS-1A Heavy Flame-Thrower

The TOS-1A heavy flame-thrower is designed to provide fire support to infantry and tanks, destroy enemy's manpower by direct or indirect fire in all types of offensive and defensive operations, as well as engage armored equipment and vehicles. The combined damaging effect is achieved through combining high temperature and enormous pressure.

The TOS-1A incorporates the BM-1 tracked vehicle mounting a launcher, and two transporter-loaders. The latter can be deployed on either a tank chassis (TZM-T) or a TZM (563K) 8x8 high-mobility wheeled vehicle.


TOS-1A

The TZM-T/TZM (563K) transporter-loader features a cradle for projectiles, a hydraulically-powered articulated crane, removable armor protection for the ammunition load, and loading equipment.

Description

The BM-1 is a MLRS deployed on a tank chassis featuring a fire-control system complete with a periscope laser aimer-rangefinder, special computer with sensors, powered electrohydraulic actuators, and firing equipment.

The vehicle also carries auxiliary systems and gear, i.e. communications, surveillance, NBC protection, firefighting, self-entrenching, etc. It fires unguided thermobaric projectiles.
