Since then more than 200 interstate treaties and agreements have been signed. The basic political documents are the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance of 1992 and the Declaration of Eternal Friendship, Alliance and Partnership of 2000.
Russia and Kyrgyzstan cooperate within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). On August 12, 2015, the republic joined the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia are also members.
Interregional ties with Kyrgyzstan are maintained by more than 60 subjects of the Russian Federation, with which more than a dozen agreements on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation have been concluded. There is an Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Scientific-Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation.
Comradeship-in-Arms joint exercises of CIS member States are conducted.
