Cooperation with Chile


Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on December 11, 1944.

The legal framework of bilateral relations is currently based on: the Declaration on the Principles of Relations and Cooperation between Russia and Chile dated June 3, 1993; the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation and the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation signed on June 3, 1993; the Memorandum of Intent in the field of Military-Technical Cooperation dated October 4, 2002 years, other documents.

There are also interdepartmental agreements between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and the National Chamber of Commerce of Chile, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Russia and the Society for the Promotion of Industrial Development of Chile, the Central Banks of Russia and Chile.

Bilateral cooperation has also been developing in space. So in July 1997, a Chilean scientific satellite was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The Presidents of the Russian Federation and Chile, Vladimir Putin and Ricardo Lagos, have met several times during APEC summits. In October 2002, Ricardo Lagos paid an official visit to Russia, and in November 2004, the Russian President paid an official visit to Chile during a regular APEC summit.

Active interparliamentary ties, contacts between ministries and departments are maintained between the two countries.

Rosoboronexport regularly participates in the FIDAE Air Show and the Exponaval exhibition held in Chile.
