Diplomatic relations between Russia and Armenia were established on April 3, 1992.

The Intergovernmental Armenian-Russian Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation has been functioning since 2006.

On June 25, 2013, an agreement was signed in Yerevan between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia on the development of military-technical cooperation.

Rostec State Corporation has a representative office in Armenia that ensures Rosoboronexport's interests.
